Our place in the community

In the United Kingdom, The Parish Church is the focal point of every local community.   The greater Church is wider than one single denomination, it is the combination of and interaction between all faiths that heals divisions and makes our community whole.

Sometimes everything is all cosy, but more often than not everyone needs to be part of the Community and to have friends and a safe place to meet and grow in faith and resolve.

The most important theme that crosses all boundaries is that 'it matters' and that 'you matter'.

Join us on Sundays

Each church has 2 Sunday Services per month (alternate weeks) eg Silkstone at 9.15am and then Hoylandswaine at 11.00 am (alternated with Dodworth at 9.15am and then Cawthorne at 11.00 am).   Please check our calendar for each location and times of worship.

When there is a 5th Sunday in the month this is a Joint Benefice Service for all four churches at 11.00 am and the location will rotate around the Benefice.   Again, please check our calendar for the venue.

 

Our History

The four parishes have been around for a long time but the changing scene has created an opportunity for grouping nearby similar parishes together under the banner of a Benefice.

West Barnsley Benefice is moving forwards with new leadership to grasp the moment and become relevant for today for a wider community.
