11.00am: The Parish Eucharist on 1st, 3rd Sundays of the month.
On the 5th Sunday of the month, or on a special occasion, a joint benefice service is held at 11.00am, either here or at: Dodworth, Hoylandswaine or Silkstone with Stainborough. Please contact a member of the clergy to find out where this service will be held.
All Saints - Cawthorne stands at the centre of one of the most picturesque villages in South Yorkshire. Cawthorne is mentioned as having a church in the Doomsday Book and the oldest part of the existing church, the Lady Chapel, dates from the late 13th century. The Tower and the North Aisle dates from the 15th century. The church was extensively restored and enlarged between 1875-80 to plans prepared by the famous architect G.F.Bodley A.R.A and largely financed by the Spencer Stanhope family. Amongst the items to be found are a number of Saxon crosses, fine panels by Roddam Spencer Stanhope and Evelyn de Morgan, and many excellent stained glass windows, one reputed to be by Burn Jones and two by Roddam. Additionally, there is a grade 1 listed organ by Wordsworth and Maskell of Leeds. Overall there is to be found a strong Pre-Raphaelite input into the church.
Today, All Saints - Cawthorne is very much at the centre of village life, and the relationship between the church and the wider community is very strong. We also work closely with our friends at Cawthorne Methodist Church.
The worshipping tradition could be described as 'central'. The Eucharist is at the centre of our worshipping life, and there is a strong musical tradition. We aim to be an inclusive church, where all can feel comfortable and welcome.
Refreshments are served after the Parish Eucharist held at 11.00am on 1st and 3rd Sundays.
All Saints - Cawthorne is the focus for much of the cultural life of the surrounding area, with regular concerts and other events taking place here.
